Building Art Through Collage in the Artist’ Space Open Call (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) - The Artists’ Space at The National Bottle Museum is putting out an open call for its first all collage exhibition. The exhibition will open on February 17,2024 and will run through March 16,2024. Entry deadline for the exhibit runs until Feb. 10. The show is open to all forms of collage and any size or materials used for this non-juried event. Also exhibiting her collage art in the exhibition will be regional artist, Kathy Klompas will also show off a large body of her collage art as the anchor for the exhibition. Call For Makers for Arlene’s Spring Makers Market (Colonie, N.Y.) - Arlene’s Artist Materials is now accepting applications for artists to take part in the Spring Maker’s Market held outside Arlene’s on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The application is open to all types of creatives and small businesses who are interested in selling their handmade creations. The Arlene’s Spring Maker’s Market is a great opportunity for artists to get their products in front of customers who appreciate handmade items and also, to support local creatives. Kathy Mattea to Perform at The Cohoes Music Hall (Cohoes, N.Y.) - Kevin Richards Presents Kathy Mattea: Close Up, for one night only at The Cohoes Music Hall Friday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. This concert, put on as part of the Kevin Richards Concerts Close Up series, will be able to enjoy an intimate Q&A session with the two-time Grammy Winner and four-time CMA winner, who is known for her hit songs, “18 Wheels & A Dozen Roses”, “455 Rocket”, “Where’ve You Been”, and more hits. Mattea is also the new host of NPR’s ‘Mountain Stage’ and Guest of Ken Burns’ ‘Country Music’ documentary on PBS. To learn more about the upcoming event, head to www.kevinrichards.com.

Sign of The Rabbit: The Colorful World of Hunt Slonem (Albany, N.Y.) - The Albany Institute of History & Art will hold an opening exhibition reception of its new exhibit, Sign of The Rabbit: The Colorful World of Hunt Slonem, Friday, Feb. 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This exhibit in particular, is the first exhibition in the Capital Region to explore the art of artist, Hunt Slonem and learn about his electric sense of design and decoration. The exhibition will display the artist’s paintings and sculptures, as well as feature two additional Slonem paintings which were recently added to the Albany Institute’s art collection. Registration to attend the artist opening needs to be completed by Tuesday, Feb. 6. Guests will have the opportunity to meet Slonem at the exhibit opening.

Sabor Caribeno Supporting Small Businesses at Pop Up Event (Troy, N.Y.) - Sabor Caribeno is seeking vendors to take part in their first Pop Up Event Supporting Small Businesses to be held Saturday, Feb. 10 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Sabor Caribeno, located at 228 4th Street, Troy. For a $50 registration fee includes a complimentary meal from Sabor Caribeno, one table, and two chairs to vend and sell their items. To register, please email saborcaribenollc@gmail.com.

HVCC’s Teaching Gallery Presents Botanical Computing: Phyto-Cybernetics (Troy, N.Y.) - The Teaching Gallery at Hudson Valley Community College will present the work of media artist, Silvia Ruzanka, an assistant professor in the Department of Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at The Teaching Gallery. The exhibit, which opened on Feb. 1, will be on view until Saturday, March 2. Ruzanka’s art in the exhibit focuses on virtual reality, interactive installation, video, and performance. The exhibit also includes digitally animated video projections with sound and two virtual reality stations with her artist theme exploring the archaeology and memory of technology and media and its interactions with everyday life. Muddaddy Flats to Close Saturday (Troy, N.Y.) - After 11 years of being in business in the City of Troy, restaurant owner, Dan Frament and his wife, Melissa, have announced the closing of their restaurant, Muddaddy Flats (located at 49 3rd Street, Troy.). The restaurant originally opened in 2012 where they sold various kinds of quesadillas, tacos, and bowls. The last day the business will be open is on Saturday, February 10.
