TRIXTER Semi-Acoustic Tour 2024 (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) - Go to the Strand Theatre to enjoy a night of 80’s rock music featuring 80’s rock band, TRIXTLER, Friday, February 2, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. The band, in its semi-acoustic format, features band members Steve Brown, PJ Farley, and percussionist Ben Hans. The band, known for its iconic hits “One in A Million”, “Give it To Me Good”, “Surrender”, and “Rockin’ to The Edge of the Night”, will feature the opening act, Kelly & Son, a father and son duo who will perform their unique blend of rock and roll with their timed comedic partnership. Tickets for the show are $20 for balcony seating and $30 for lower level (does not include front row). Countdown To The Triple Crown (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) - The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will host a winter fundraiser, Countdown to the Triple Crown Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The Saturday evening event will feature dozens of silent auction items around the museum, an online auction that will go live Feb. 3 at noon, live music, giveaways, and showings of their signature film, “What it Takes: Journey to the Hall of Fame”. WEXT & WAMC Present…Live & Local at the Linda (Albany, N.Y.) - WEXT & WAMC present their second Live & Local at the Linda event held at The Linda - WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio in Albany on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. This event will feature live music from three local acts, The E-Block, New American Cuisine, and Barbie Barker. Call for Art for Hibernation Exhibition (Albany, N.Y.) - The Honest Arts Committee is currently in preparation for its first 2024 exhibition, Hibernation, to take place inside the Honest Weight Food Coop, located at 100 Watervliet Avenue, Albany. Artists are encouraged to send a maximum of three entries, three digital images to honestartscommittee@honestweight.coop before Thursday, February 1, 2024. Weaving Stories With UREC and Lori Kochanski (Albany, N.Y.) - The Underground Railroad Education Center is hosting a special community art project series - Weaving Stories featuring the work from local fiber artist Lori Kochanski on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. Kochanski will teach participants how to weave and tell your own creative story through the art of weaving. Participants will also work on a community art piece that will go on display at the Stephen and Harriet Myers Residence for a duration of time until the new Interpretive Center on Livingston Avenue is built. Space to take part in the activity is limited. Ticket prices for the activity range from $15-$40. Journey To Freedom: Honoring Veterans of the Civil Rights Movement (Loudonville, N.Y.) - The Underground Railroad Education Center will honor the work of 15 local civil rights activists and preview their oral history interviews at Siena College at the Sarazen Student Union- Maloney Green Room Saturday, February 3, 2024, 3:00-4:30 p.m. Guests can learn about the veteran activists, hear their interviews, and can also join in to sing Freedom Songs. Creative Energy Expressions (Albany, N.Y.) - Albany Center Gallery will host the Creative Energy Expressions, a color, movement, and collage workshop, featuring the assistance of artist mentor Ashley Rutledge on Saturday, February 10, 2024. MASS MoCA Announces Wilco’s Solid Sound 2024 Lineup (North Adams, M.A.) - MASS MoCA has officially announced the Wilco Solid Sound music lineup. The 2024 Solid Sound Festival will take place from Friday, June 28, 2024-Sunday, June 30, 2024, on the grounds of MASS MoCA, located at 1040 MASS MoCA Way, North Adams, M.A. The music lineup includes plenty of musical acts including Wilco, Nick Lowe and Los Straitjackets, Mikaela Davis, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Young@Heart, and many more. E1 Presents: River of Dreams, American Elton, and All Revved Up (Cohoes, N.Y.) - E1 Presents will bring three tribute acts, River Of Dreams (Billy Joel tribute Band), American Elton (Elton John impersonator Bill Connors), and All Revved Up (Meat Loaf tribute band) to The Cohoes Music Hall in Cohoes Saturday, February 3, 2024, 7:30 p.m. New to this tribute show is All Revved Up- performed by musicians John Doboe and Mikala Corrado. John Cozolino, a classically trained pianist will portray Billy Joel from River of Dreams. American Elton is portrayed by Bill Connors, who was previously on American Idol. HVCC’s Teaching Gallery Presents Botanical Computing: Phyto-Cybernetics
TROY - The Teaching Gallery at Hudson Valley Community College will present the work of media artist, Silvia Ruzanka, an assistant professor in the Department of Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at The Teaching Gallery. The exhibit will open on Thursday, Feb. 1, with an artist talk held at 3 p.m. inside the Bulmer Telecommunications Center (B.T.C.) auditorium, followed by the reception from 4-6 p.m. inside The Teaching Gallery. The exhibit will be on view until Saturday, March 2. Ruzanka’s art in the exhibit focuses on virtual reality, interactive installation, video, and performance. The exhibit also includes digitally animated video projections with sound and two virtual reality stations with her artist theme exploring the archaeology and memory of technology and media and its interactions with everyday life.
