Curtain Call Theatre Presents “Wait Until Dark” (LATHAM, N.Y.) - Curtain Call Theatre will present, “Wait Until Dark”, by Fredrick Knott. The play is based in 1944 in Greenwich Village in which Susan Hendrix, a blind woman, finds herself threatened in her own apartment and finds a way to escape her darkness. The play opens Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. and runs through Saturday, March 30. Friday and Saturday performances are held at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Two Saturday matinee performances will be held on March 16 and March 23 at 2 p.m. Individual tickets are $30. The theatre is located at 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham. Exploring Search Engine Optimization (ALBANY, N.Y.) - The Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region is putting together a free Zoom presentation on exploring search engine optimization featuring guest speaker, Ashleigh Lindsay, Wednesday, March 13, 6-7:30 p.m. This presentation will help small business owners to establish a strong online presence and attract more clients through their website or on their social media platforms. Reserve For Ten Broeck & Hyde Hall: Architectural Treasures Bus Tour (ALBANY, N.Y.) - Tickets are selling fast for the Ten Broeck & Hyde Hall: Architectural Treasures bus tour that will take place on Saturday, May 11. Guests can take part in exploring two historic sites at the Ten Broeck Mansion and head to Hyde Hall in Cooperstown for an architecture talk, landscape and women artist talk, sketching, kits and shopping opportunities. The event also includes lunch and afternoon tea at the famed Otesaga Hotel. This event is also a benefit event to raise funds for the Ten Broeck Mansion’s Education Center. Purim In Israel Celebration at Colonie Chabad (LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.) - Save the date to attend Purim in “Israel” celebration on Sunday, March 24, at 4 p.m. at the Colonie Chabad. Dress up in your favorite costume and enjoy a festive Israeli dinner with fresh squeezed Jaffa Orange Juice. Israeli music will be played at the event, guests can have their photo taken at the Kotel (Western Wall), and there will be an animated Megillah reading and activities for all ages. Reservations are required for attending the free event, although there is a suggested donation of $18 per person or $36 per family. The Gifts of The Maple (SLINGERLANDS, N.Y) - The Pine Hollow Arboretum will put on the event, The Gifts of The Maple, Saturday, March 16, 2 p.m. Visitors will be able to tour the arboretum grounds to search for sugar maple trees and finish up the tour by tasting maple syrup and comparing the maple syrup from the tree to other syrups. Although the event is free for Pine Hollow Arboretum members, for non-members, admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Go to www.eventbrite.com to register.
Exploring Solstice Walk (SLINGERLANDS, N.Y.) - The Pine Hollow Arboretum welcomes visitors to celebrate spring by taking part in a spring solstice walk and a forest bathing experience at the Pine Hollow Arboretum on Tuesday, March 19, starting at 4:30 p.m. Visitors will be able to use their senses, slow down and take notice of the beauty that nature has to offer right here in the Capital Region. The nature walk will be led by Sandy Wilson, a certified Kripalu Mindfulness outdoor guide. A suggestion of $10 per person is suggested for participation. Last Week to View “Building Art Through Collage” Exhibit (BALLSTON SPA, N.Y.) - This week is the final week to view the exhibit, “Building Art Through Collage” at The Artist Space inside the National Bottle Museum, located at 76 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. The exhibit features collage-based works from 25 artists, including the featured artist, Kathy Klompas The exhibit is on view through Saturday, March 16. Molly Hatchet to Perform at Strand Theatre (HUDSON FALLS, N.Y.) - Legendary Southern Rock band Molly Hatchet, is celebrating the release of their new album “Battleground” at the Strand Theatre Friday, March 15, 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are $55 for balcony seating and $75 for lower-level seating. Molly Hatchet is known for their hit songs, “Flirtin’ With Disaster”, “Beatin’ The Odds”, and “Dreams I’ll Never See”, and they have been entertaining audiences for over four decades with their signature sound and high-energy performances. 3rd Annual Pancake Breakfast (SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.) - Caffe Lena is putting on the Third Annual Pancake Breakfast, a fundraiser for the Caffe Lena School of Music and the Matt McCabe Scholarship Fund on St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Music will be provided by members of the Saratoga Springs High School Fiddle Club and The Band Scramble from 12-1 p.m. Guests can consume pancakes, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and orange juice. All proceeds from the benefit will go towards providing high quality instruction in the folk music tradition for both children and adults in online and in-person lessons. Tickets are $20 for individuals 12-years-old and over and $10 for children 11-years-old and under. Brown’s Brewing Company Goes Green for St. Patrick’s Day Weekend (RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y.) - Brown’s Brewing Company is gearing up for an incredible St. Patrick’s Day weekend at both their Hoosick Falls (Walloomsac) and Troy locations. Starting on Saturday, March 16, Toss The Feathers (a traditional Irish Quartet) will perform from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, March 17 inside the Troy taproom and at Brown’s Revolution Hall will be kid-friendly games starting at 12 p.m. From 1-4 p.m., Family Tree will take the taproom stage, the annual blessing of the bar featuring Kelly Brown, Harold Qualters, and the Schenectady Bagpipes and Killashandra will perform at 6 p.m. at the taproom stage. St. Patrick’s Day Block Party With The Refrigerators (TROY, N.Y.) - Bootlegger’s on Broadway in Troy is going to have a pre-St. Patrick’s Day block party featuring live music from Capital Region party cover band, The Refrigerators on Saturday, March 16. The event will begin at 12 p.m. and the event will be happening both indoors and outdoors with delicious food and drink specials happening all day. 74th Annual Albany St. Patrick’s Day Parade (ALBANY, N.Y.) - The City of Albany, N.Y. will once again put on the 2024 (and 74th Annual) Albany St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 16, starting at 2 p.m. The event will begin with a beautiful Mass followed by a reception with live music, Irish breads, coffee, tea, and the parade will begin on the Avenue. Kegs And Eggs and Hair of The Dog at Frog Alley Brewing (SCHENECTADY, N.Y.) - Saint Patrick’s Day will be started off right at Frog Alley Brewing, located at 108 State Street, Schenectady, on Sunday, March 17, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will begin with Kegs and Eggs with live music from Erin Tide starting at 9 a.m. Music will continue on with Hair of The Dog which will perform from noon-3 p.m. There will be a $10 cover at the door. Hill Country Cloggers to Perform at Mechanicville Senior Citizens Center (MECHANICVILLE, N.Y.) - Members of the competition team from the local clogging group, Hill Country Cloggers, will be dancing at the Mechanicville Senior Citizens Center, located at 178 North Main Street, Mechanicville, on Saturday, March 16 from 1-3 p.m. and non-competition cloggers will also be dancing at the event. Come check out the clogging and enjoy an afternoon filled with dancing, a 50/50 raffle, basket raffles, and delicious desserts to enjoy. The event is free.
St. Paddy’s Sunday Funday at Bootlegger’s on Broadway (TROY, N.Y.) - The St. Patrick’s Day festivities at Bootlegger’s on Broadway continue on right through the holiday with their own holiday “Sunday Funday” filled event on Sunday, March 17, starting at 11 a.m. Live music will be performed by Frankie Lessard (11:30 a.m.) and the West Side Drive (3:00 p.m.).
