Colonie Library to host Music Event
COLONIE - Can a song change the world? Attend the songs of struggle, protest and affirmation presentation by Robert Cohen, at the William K. Sanford library Sunday, Oct. 22, 2-3 p.m. This event will focus on songs from the abolition movement, the Civil rights struggle, anti and pro war songs, and songs from the labor and environmental movements. Autumn in the Arboretum: A fundraiser to Support the Pine Hollow Arboretum
SLINGERLANDS - Come and join the Pine Hollow Arboretum on Saturday, Oct. 21 for Autumn in the Arboretum, a fundraiser to support the Pine Hollow Arboretum. The event, happening from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. will include live music, birds of prey exhibit by Whispering Willow Wildcare, crafts, pumpkin painting, cider belly donuts, smores’ station, hot cider, a photo station, and much more. Ticket sales for the event start at $10 for adults, $5 per child, and free for children under the age of two-years-old, or $25 for a family or group of four people. Tickets can either be purchased on the day of the event or in advance via Eventbrite.
LifePath Senior Expo
GUILDERLAND - Crossgates Mall will be putting on the Capital Region Senior Expo. Sponsored by CDPHP and LifePath Supportive Services for Older Adults, the expo will include over 35 vendors, live entertainment, and flu shots Friday, Oct. 20 at the mall’s lower level from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The event is free. Liza and Judy
GLENS FALLS - Nancy Hays and Mary Heffernan will perform a rendition of the 1964 concert for the mother-daughter duo of Judy Garland and then 18-year-old Liza Minnelli at the London Palladium, Sunday, Oct. 22, at Charles R. Wood Theatre, Glens Falls, 3 p.m. The tribute concert will allow listeners to hear the songs from the famous duo with solos of “The Man That Got Away”, “Just In Time”, and “San Francisco” and duets, “Chicago”, “Zing! Went the Strings of my Heart!”, and “Get Happy/Happy Days”. The duo’s musical performance will also include musical director, Robert Ollis and special guest, Laura Roth, who will open for the performance. Guilderland Chamber of Commerce’s Fight Against Cancer
GUILDERLAND - Join the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce in the fight against cancer at The Scene (1671 Western Avenue, Albany) Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. This networking event will include charcuterie by The Scene and raffles. A portion of the process will go towards the fight against breast cancer. Additional parking will be available at Crossgates Mall and a CDTA bus transportation will be provided for attendees to go to The Scene from the mall. Advance tickets are available for $20 and $25 for tickets at the door.
Free Family & Community Program
ALBANY - The Albany County Historic Foundation (Ten Broeck Mansion) will have a free family and community program, a fall scavenger hunt Saturday, Oct. 21, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Guests can learn about trees and how they’re prepared for the Winter solstice. There will also be a free school supply and book give-away, with the books courtesy of the RED Bookshelf. The program is free, but registration is recommended. Mike And the UnderDawgs Rock N’ Roll Show
ALBANY- Albany Elks Lodge #49 presents Mike and the UnderDawgs for a rock and roll show, Saturday, Oct. 21, 7 p.m. show. This Capital Region trio features musicians Sten Isachsen (mandolin), Mike McMann (guitar/vocals), and Bobby Bee (bass). This performance is open to the public.
